Grief and Loss

2038902503You’ve lost someone or something meaningful.

Perhaps it was a loved one…

A relationship…

Your sense of identity…

Even a future you once envisioned.

It may seem like the world is moving on, but you’re still stuck in sorrow, longing, and numbness.

Walking into a therapy session…

It can be overwhelming – like stepping into the unknown (especially if it’s your first time).

If you’ve never been to therapy before, you might wonder what to expect.

Is it like what you see on TV?

Will you be lying on a couch while I take notes in silence? (Spoiler: No.)

It’s not an interrogation.

My office is designed to be a warm, welcoming space with soft lighting, calming scents, and comfortable seating.

There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or share more than you’re ready for. You get to set the pace.

Grief is deeply personal, and so is therapy.

Sometimes, it looks like talking through memories, emotions, or regrets.

Other times, it’s about sitting in silence and just being with the weight of loss.

There’s no right or wrong way to grieve, and there’s no judgment here.

Grief can feel like being caught in a storm.

It’s overwhelming, unpredictable, and disorienting.

You might wonder if things will ever feel normal again or if the heaviness will ever lift.

Therapy doesn’t erase grief, but it does help you find solid ground, offering tools and support to help you move forward while still honoring what you’ve lost.

Some sessions might involve exploring memories and emotions, helping you process feelings of guilt, regret, or even anger that often come with loss.

Other times, it’s about learning how to carry grief differently: building resilience, self-compassion, and ways to find meaning in a world that feels forever changed.

Loss can sometimes cause us to question our identity. We can do values-based work to rediscover your purpose, find what still brings meaning, and create a life where you can carry grief AND joy.

For times when grief becomes overwhelming, I’ll teach you mindfulness and grounding techniques to bring you back to the present moment and soothe yourself.

Grief can also affect the body, resulting in exhaustion, tension, disrupted sleep, or changes in appetite. Therapy gives you small, practical ways to care for yourself, recognizing that healing isn’t just emotional but physical, too.

Grief can feel isolating, but…

You don’t have to navigate it by yourself. Whether your loss is recent or something you’ve been carrying for years, support is available.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting; it means learning how to move forward while still honoring what (and who) matters most to you.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I invite you to reach out. I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk about what you’re going through, answer any questions, and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
